Local runners ready for London

Two local runners getting ready and getting set to go for it this year’s London Marathon on Sunday, April 13.

Jeremy Bolwell and Dave Hurst, both members of the Ludlow Runners, have been training for the marathon since January and currently run around 50 miles a week.

Jeremy, who lives and works in Ludlow, said: “It’s the first full marathon for us both but we have been training hard.”

Ludlow Runners currently has 55 members attending twice weekly training runs around Ludlow and Mortimer Forest. Members take part in cross country leagues, multi terrain races and full and half marathons locally and throughout the UK each year.

They also organise the Mortimer Forest 10 Miler and the Tenbury 10K races annually for charity.

Four club members began training in January this year, but due to injury only two will start next week. They will be raising money for The Big Issue and hope to collect £2,000.

Anyone interested in joining Ludlow Runners – including their junior athletes section – should contact Jeremy Bolwell on 01584 877472. To sponsor Jeremy and Dave go to the site www.justgiving.com/jeremybolwell.
