Richards seeking more support

Manager Chris Richards is hoping to take Ludlow Town forward again next season after reflecting on improvements this time around in the West Midland League.

Although Town finished their campaign on a disappointing note with a 4-2 home reverse against Lye, Richards insisted there were plenty of positives from the campaign.

But he is equally wary that there is much work to be done if his side are to be challenging for a top five position next season.

“Overall there have been some improvements this season and I’m committed to trying to take the club further forward,” he said.

“But if I’m going to do that, and get the club pushing for a top five place, then I need more support.

“I feel we’ve reached as good as level as possible with the resources we have got – but we have to do something to improve our chances of being competitive.

“In the next few weeks, I’ll be sitting down with the committee to discuss our plans.”

Despite ending with a 4-2 home defeat, Richards felt his side had been stronger defensively this season but paid the price for not capitalising in front of goal.

Lee Millichip and Andy Pugh were both denied by the post against Lye before Ludlow fell 3-0 behind. Marcus Sharrad pulled one back but Lye made it 4-1 before Sharrad struck again.
