Mystery surrounds web blogger

An anonymous internet blog slamming Ludlow’s town councillors has been re-instated and has already attracted sympathetic comments from members of the public.

The blog – at www.ludlovius.blogspot.com – is believed to be a new incarnation of an older site, www.ludlovian.blogspot.com.

In the ‘about me’ section, the author, calling him or herself Mr Blogger says: “I live in the lovely medieval town of Ludlow in Shropshire.

“For quite a while I have felt concerned about the very naughty behaviour of certain Ludlow town councillors.

“I intend to make their shameful and often ridiculous actions public knowledge, and hopefully embarrass them into good behaviour whenever and wherever possible.”

In the only post so far, dated Thursday, June 26, Mr Blogger makes derogatory comments about councillors Graeme Perks, Amanda Pope, Michael Brad- ley and new Mayor, Jim Newbold.

The anonymous writer accuses Councillor Perks of abstaining from voting on key issues affecting Ludlow including the future of the town market and the town’s involvement with Cittaslow.

The writer says that by doing so, Councillor Perks hopes to become the town’s next mayor.

Councillor Perks told the Journal: “I don’t know what blogs are, but I would prefer if anybody has anything to say about a councillor, then surely democracy is there for the individual to write to the councillor or to talk to them.

“For me it’s cowardice if people resort to that sort of thing. I won’t look at blogs and I’m there if people want to talk to me.

“Listening to people is what I’ve been about for 13 years in Ludlow and hopefully that’s what people will measure me by, rather than what some coward has put up online.”
