The anonymous blogger whose scathing online comments and postings about Ludlow Town Council led to the creation of a rival blog, has logged off for the final time and deleted all of his or her posts.
The blog, at www.ludlovius.blogspot.com, has been taken down, after the blogger said in a farewell post they were leaving things for the “good people of Ludlow” to sort out.
Some contributors to the blog had said it was written by Councillor Graeme Kidd, a suggestion strongly denied by both the blogger and Councillor Kidd, who posted in response.
A rival blog, www.ludlovious.blogspot. com remains active and contains a series of bitter attacks on Councillors Graeme Kidd, Nick Galtress and John Aitken.
Councillor Kidd told the Journal: “Like a lot of people, I am personally considering my options and taking advice.”
And Councillor Galtress said: “I find so much of what is going on in this town at present, driven as it is by ignorance and envy, puerile, demeaning, and unnecessary.
“I strongly suspect that most of its perpetrators would benefit from serious psychiatric counselling.”
Councillor Aitken said: “I think it’s totally inappropriate for this sort of material to be produced in relation to the activities of the town council, sheltering behind a thin suggestion of anonymity.
“I would look to the new mayor, who has said he wants to move beyond the divisions of the past, and see if he can do something.”
In a further twist, Councillor Kidd has now set up a third blog in an attempt to encourage people to comment openly about the town’s politics.
He said: “No one can deny there’s something of an interest in blogs in Ludlow at the moment and maybe some good can come out of this.”
Councillor Kidd has set up www.properludlowblog. blogspot.com on the premise that people would comment as themselves.
On the site, he asks for anyone interested in taking part or moderating posts to get in touch.
He said: “If people decide to post without being obviously traceable, they can forget it.”
