A week of green events

A green event with all kinds of eco-friendly activities takes over Cleobury Mortimer next week.

The local sustainable development group, the Cleobury Country Environmental Forum (CCEF), is hosting the seven-day event starting on Monday, to celebrate the environmental activities and achievements of the Cleobury country area.

Highlights of the event include:

• Environment film night on Monday, featuring the new Leonardo Di Caprio film The 11th Hour.

• Bio bag launch on Tuesday, to include facts about plastic bags: re-usable, bio and non-biodegradable plus a presentation on how best to use your bio bag, and the journey from food waste to compost.

• Light Fantastic Trailer on Wednesday will distribute free low energy light bulbs, with interactive activities and a presentation on climate change.

• Tetrapak Day on Thursday will include display covering the varieties of tetrapaks, how to place in the recycle bin (wash and squash, why?) and how this composite container is broken into its component parts (paper, plastic, aluminium) and recycled.

• Open day at Cleobury Mortimer’s sewage treatment works on Friday includes a guided tour and display.

• Environmental Champions Day on Sunday recognises the many environmental achievements of individual members of Cleobury Country households and businesses with a special event with certificates and awards being presented.

Most  activities will be held at Cleobury Mortimer’s Market Hall. Leaflets with programme details are available from the Information desk at the Market Hall and most shops.

Organisers warn that dates, events and location details may be subject to change. Watch out for any updates on local town notice boards.
