A Ludlow woman who has knitted clothes for 100 Barbie dolls is appealing for more dolls so she can continue sending them as Christmas presents to a children’s charity.
Sandra Cartwright has been knitting clothes for the last two years so the dolls can be included in Christmas shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
The charity sends Christmas presents around the world to children who would not otherwise receive anything. Sandra started knitting the clothes after her friend Kath Bills asked her tp help out her daughter Kim, who collects and sends off the Christmas shoeboxes.
Both Sandra and Kim buy the dolls from charity shops whenever they see them but their current supply has run out and they are asking for any old or spare dolls people might have.
Sandra said: “I buy them from charity shops when I can but I’m hoping people have some they no longer want.”
If anyone has any dolls they would like to donate, they can be dropped off at South Shropshire Furniture Scheme on Tower Street, where Kath Bills runs the tea room.
