Bulls raring to go

Table-topping Builth Wells will be keeping an anxious eye on the weather as they target an eagerly awaited  return to action tomorrow.

There was more frustration for the Bulls last weekend when their scheduled home game with Mumbles fell victim to a frozen pitch.

It was a second successive postponement for the Swalec League Division Two (West) leaders, who also saw their last match of 2008 lost to the weather.

The Bulls will hope for better luck ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Pencoed; they are keen to get playing again and hold off the strong challenge of chasing pair Bridgend Athletic and Loughor in an absorbing title race which is hotting up nicely.

“The hard frost in the ground caused us to call off the Mumbles game,” confirmed Builth spokes-man Roland Parker. “The Wye was completely frozen over in places.

“Prospects for the Pencoed away game are once again in the lap of the gods but the squad is all fit and healthy and ready to take on anyone in Division Two (West).”

lLlandrindod Wells’ home match against Clwb Rygbi on Saturday was called off after a pitch inspection.

And Llandrindod are all set for another quiet weekend as scheduled opponents Sully Sports have withdrawn from the League.

“We are not trying to get a replacement game because most pitches are likely to be still frozen,” said a club spokesman.

Llandrindod’s next game, weather permitting, is a home league match against Glyncoch on Saturday, January 17.
