Mike Symonds has resigned as manager of Presteigne St Andrews FC with immediate effect – citing a change in his work circumstances as being the main reason behind his decision.
After taking on a part-time role in addition to his full-time job, Symonds informed the committee he felt unable to dedicate enough time to the key post of first team manager.
Symonds replaced Adriano Girolami as Presteigne manager for the 2008-09 season in which the Llanandras Park side struggled for consistency.
After flirting with the relegation places for part of the campaign, the side eventually found its form.
And they rounded off the season with an unbeaten six-match run that saw them finish ninth in the Spar Mid Wales League table.
Presteigne chairman Alan Randell, who has only just resumed the post following a two year break, said: “Clearly we are very disappointed that Mike is unable to continue as manager but work has to come first for all of us, especially in the current climate.
“All football fans will appreciate the timing is not great as our players were back in pre-season training last week. Time is of the essence, and the committee plans to make a decision on where we go from here on Monday evening (13 July).
“I would urge anyone interested in becoming our Spar Mid Wales League manager to speak to me as soon as possible,” he added.
