Fun for all at festival

The Marches Youth Festival will arrive at Wheeler Road Skate Park, Ludlow, on July 25.

Jaelith Mahoney, youth festival c o-ordinator, said: “Ludlow’s Wheeler Road Skate Park will host a one day free festival for the Marches Youths. It is aimed to press the fun buttons of the tots to 20s.

“Walkabout street performers will be providing the comedic spectacle that Ludlow has come to love in the past. For the older youths there will be a multimedia igloo geared at entertaining 400 people.”

The Youth Forum Talk Bus will have a strong presence with the goodies they have to offer along with advice and youth leaders from the Ludlow Youth Centre. A crafts tent with various activities and a community reenactment of the Battle of Trafalgar project will all be taking place.

The skater competition will start at 2.30pm and promises to be the first of its kind in South Shropshire.

For the tots there will be a crafts tent with salt dough on hand, goo and paint and dressing up boxes for the little ones along with face painting and badge making will be zinging with activity.

Mayhem will ensue for the Battle of Trafalgar where Youths all over South Shropshire and its borders are encouraged to make a cardboard ship and load themselves with water bombs and water pistols with the aim of destroying each other’s human sized ships.

Jaelith said: “I have spoken to over 2,000 school children about the day and kids can see that this is going to be fun”

Youths, families, pub teams, and community groups whether they may be from cricket teams to amateur dramatics are urged to get their water pistols and ships organised for the biggest sea bound reenactment to be seen on dry land with a cash prize of £50 for the best ship.

The event has been sponsored by the Ludlow Assembly Rooms and Ludlow Town Council, along with many other Ludlow based businesses. Decorations have been borrowed from Sheep Music Festival and Giant Puppets from Bishops Castle workshops.
