The first meeting of the Friends of Ludlow Library 2009/2010 season will be held at The Ludlow Conference Centre (formerly the Bishop Mascall Centre) on Thursday, September 3, at 7.30pm.

The guest speaker will be Sir Leslie Fielding KCMG, MA, Hon LLd, FRSA,FRGS.
Sir Leslie has been a diplomat, a director of the European Commission, and EC ambassador in Tokyo, then Director General of the EC. He has been vice-chancellor of the University of Sussex and has held director level appointments in industry.
His latest book ‘Kindly Call Me God’ was published recently, a collection of vignettes both light hearted and serious about the life of a diplomat, and this will form the basis of his talk which is also sub-titled ‘Books are easy to read, but hard to write’
Sir Leslie is an excellent speaker and has a vast experience to call upon.
