Presteigne’s delight

NEWBRIDGE 1,    ABERYSTWYTH RES 4

Newbridge turned in another decent performance but with no end result against a strong Aber side who will again be competing for honours.

The Villagers really did start well with Chris Jones heading them in front from Phil Ruell’s third minute free-kick. Russell Jones saw a header well saved from Ruell’s cross and Chris Jones had his lob cleared off the line before The Seasiders equalised following a slick four-man move.

And the visitors netted a crucial second beating the offside trap on 40 minutes. Russell Jones had a couple of decent strikes at the beginning of the second half but there was no addition to the score until 80 minutes when a 20 yarder slipped under Rhys Hughes. Aber, whose goalscorers were Tom Bowen (2), Karl Seliarts and Darryn Jones got a fourth before Neil Walmesly hit the post for Newbridge.
