LUDLOW Town boss Stuart Corns has set his sights on making an impression in high-profile cup competitions next season with the FA Cup and FA Vase top of his agenda.
The SBS Stadium side, despite seeing a makeshift team crash 7-2 at high-flying Bloxwich last weekend, are well placed in the West Midlands League premier division this term.
And should they seal a top 10 finish, that would be enough to see them clinch a place in the prestigious FA Cup competition, and the potential of some much-needed cup cheer.
“My ambition next season is getting into the FA Cup which could be a good money spinner for the club,” said Corns. “Hopefully we can build on this season and if we can get through a couple of rounds of the FA Cup it would certainly raise the club’s profile.
“I also want us to be in the Vase as well, and there’s no reason why we can’t have a bit of a run in that. In the last few seasons the club have not entered these competitions because they have not felt that they did not have a good enough side. But there is no reason why we can’t do ourselves justice in these next season.”
Having conceded seven goals at Bloxwich, Ludlow are looking to get back on track when they host Darlaston on Saturday as they bid tostay on course for at least a top 10 spot.
Corns felt last week’s scoreline on a mud-sodden pitch was harsh, with the home side scoring three times late on for a flattering margin of victory. Ludlow, missing Corns through a one match ban, had trailed 3-0 before hitting back at half time with replies from Lewis Welch and Mattie Elsmore.
After the interval, the visitors conceded a sloppy fourth goal from a free kick, but had their chances before Bloxwich wrapped up the win.
