Chloe’s bangers should s(mash) the competition!

A multi-award winning Kington butcher is hoping his success rubs off on a local girl who has made the grand final of a best banger competition.

Chloe Harris of Wigmore High School (pictured with Glyn Slade-Jones) won the Herefordshire category of the West Midlands Schools Best Banger competition and was yesterday (Thursday) taking part in the prestigious Grand Final, where she was due to go head-to-head with other county winners.

Chloe HarrisChloe tickled the judges’ tastebuds with her recipe for The Orleton Oinker sausage, made up of Gloucester Old Spot pork, damsons, honey, garlic, chive cheese from Monkland Dairy, salt and rusk.

On Monday, Chloe took her recipe to the award-winning Glyn Slade-Jones family butchers on Kington’s High Street to see her it transformed into sizzling sausages.

They said: “We will stock them in the shop if they win, and even if they don’t win people will be asking for them after reading about them in the Mid Wales Journal!”
