Nine-year-old Tegwyn Bruce Deans of Llandrindod Wells won gold at the South Powys Urdd Swimming Gala in Brecon and will now go forward to represent the area at the National Gala in Cardiff.
Tegwyn, pictured with her certificate, lives in Grosvenor Road and is a pupil of Ysgol Trefonnen Church in Wales Primary School.
She gained the gold award with the fastest speed in the back stroke for young people in years three and four and is the only Llandrindod pupil to gain a gold at the event.
