Man dies after collision

A man died in hospital today after being injured in a road collision in Ludlow. It’s believed the man, thought to be in his sixties, was crossing the road, when involved in a collision with a car.

It happened in Sheet Road near The Cecil guesthouse  at around 6pm last night. The man was taken to Hereford Hospital with head injuries but died earlier today.Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.  Sergeant Adrian Woolley said: “I would ask anyone who saw the collision, or the circumstances leading up to it, to please contact Ludlow police station on 0300-333-3000 as a matter of urgency.”

The silver Vauxhall Astra involved, driven by a man, was heading away from the town at the time.  He was not injured.

The coroner for south Shropshire Mr Anthony Sibcy has been informed and police will prepare a report into the circumstances for the full inquest.

The man,  who is believed to be from the Ludlow area,  is unlikely to be formally named until next week.  A post mortem will be held, probably next week.
