Presteigne booster as boss lands duo

Presteigne will include two new signings in their squad for the trip to Aberystwyth Reserves in the Spar Mid Wales League tomorrow (Saturday).

Player-manager Tim Broome was expecting international clearance to go through for Liam Jones to return to the club from Pagasus while Tom Evans should have completed a transfer from UWIC in time for what is a big game for the East Radnor side.

Glen Tolley returns after missing the midweek victory against Newbridge while keeper Nick Cadwallader, who produced a number of top class saves on Wednesday night, will continue to deputise for Ian Havard who could be ruled out for up to a month with cracked ribs.

Rhayader Town also have an important clash away at Bow Street.

In fact, from Rhayader’s point of view, every game is a big one  from now until the end of the season with Dylan McPhee’s men joint top of the table although they have played more games than their rivals.

Street are just three points behind Rhayader but with three games in hand indicating the importance of tomorrow’s result.

Reflecting on last weekend’s defeat at Penparcau, a philosophical McPhee said: “We played really well and if we play like that all the time, we will certainly win more than we lose.”

He will be without the suspended Callum McKenzie tomorrow and Chris Murphy is also ruled out but Dave Sivell returns.

Hay St Marys will be aiming to reproduce their cup form in the league when they visit Caersws Reserves. The Saints are in the semi-finals of the League Cup and the last 16 of the Central Wales Cup but have lost their last four league games.

Sam Powell and Gavin Williams are still sidelined with Jake Atkinson and Tom Weaver also ruled out tomorrow so caretaker manager Fil Wisniewski is likely to promote from the Reserves.

Newbridge continue their league campaign at home against Llansantffaid Village.

At Guilsfield on Saturday and then at Presteigne in midweek, Adriano Girolami’s side showed they are capable of beating the drop but time is running out for The Villagers who certainly are not having the rub of the green at the moment.
