A Pat on the back…

For nearly 27 years Pat Power has acted as the warden to the elderly residents of more than 20 homes at Pendre Bungalows in Builth Wells.

During that time she has checked on each one every day and answered emergency alarm calls.

Now Pat has retired from the scheme, operated by Powys County Council, and this week a special dinner and presentation evening was held for her at the Greyhound Hotel in Builth Wells.

The evening was organised by Builth Wells Town Council to show its appreciation of Pat’s service and dedication over the years.

Pat, who is a former member of the town council herself and was on three occasions the town mayor, was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the town mayor Councillor John Carruthers, who paid tribute to the work she had done. Also in the photograph are the mayoress Angie Carruthers, Councillor John Price and clerk to Builth Wells Town Council Sharon Hazelwood.
