Top marks to Griffin after Trials victory

Central Wales Auto Club staged their annual Roger Maughfling Trial at Cwmwhitton Farm, near Knighton, by kind permission of the Pugh Family.

The conditions were very greasy and muddy but apart from a light snow shower it stayed dry.

Over 60 riders took part in the event competing on one of three routes set out by clerk of the course Ray Bodenham.

Youngster Jack Walsh from Marshbrook finished in top position on the expert route only losing 12 marks.

In the Clubman section, Joe Griffin from Crossgates finished top, losing just five marks and in the sportsman section Knighton riders David Vaughan and Clive Brick both lost five marks.

RESULTS: Red Route Experts: 1st Mark Morgan from Heyope(23), 2nd Paul Sagar from Wrexham (25), 3rd Adrian Jervice from Llanidloes (31).

Youth Expert: 1st Jack Walsh from Marshbrook,(12) 2nd Joel Edwards, North Wales (15) , 3rd Ben Millichap, the Midlands (41).

Yellow route Intermediate: 1st Peter Edwards (45), 2nd John Caine (64), 3rd David Cunnington (67) all from Knighton.

Youth Intermediate: 1st Jonathan Rowlands , Beguildy (28), 2nd Tom Minta, Midlands (33), 3rd Ashley Addams from Newcastle on Clun (67).

Clubman: 1st Andy Ridley, Malvern (23), 2nd Roger Wilding, Knighton (29), 3rd Mitchel Cullen, South Wales (33).

Over 40s: 1st Joe Griffin , Crossgates (5), 2nd Gary Morgan, Wales, (7), 3rd Andy Roberton, Knighton (8).

Twin Shock: 1st David Davies, (7), 2nd Kevin Adams (29) both from Newcastle on Clun , 3rd Ian Spence, Church Stretton (31).

Pre-1965: 1st Nick Woollen (35). Youth Clubman 1st Hugo Jervice, Llanidloes (35), 2nd Andrew Rowlands, Beguildy (39).

White route Pre-1965: 1st Graham Roberts, Craven Arms (7). Sportsman: 1st David Vaughan, Knighton (5), 2nd Paul Manone, South Wales (7), 3rd Roger Brown, Hereford (9).

Twin Shock: 1st Clive Brick, Knighton (5), 2nd Jenson Bound Craven Arms (70). Youth Sportsman: 1st Luke Morgan, near Clun, (7). 2nd Matthew Cunnington (32), 3rd Ben Anderson (48) both from Knighton.
