Three local primary schools competed in the local Urdd Gobaith Cymru Eisteddfod Cylch y Llannau 2010 at Llandrindod Wells where winners from the day’s events will go forward to the next round of the Urdd Eisteddfod.
The three schools were Ysgol Trefonnen Church in Wales Primary School from Llandrindod, Builth Wells Primary School and the Ysgol Tref y Clawdd primary school at Knighton.
The day’s proceedings and all entries were given in Welsh.
The adjudicators for the day at Llandrindod High School were Bryn Davies for music and Karina Dafis for literature. The stage comperes for the event were Gareth Davies and Mai Ellis, with Bethan Rees as the accompanist.
The local committee was led by Meinir Jones, the chairman, who welcomed everybody. She was supported by vice chairman Nerys Coyle, secretary Gwawr Tuffnell, treasurer Alun Evans and development officer Eurfyl Lewis.
The young competitors presented solos, recitations and musical instrumental items, together with drama and choir renditions.
At the conclusion, the shield for the individual or group who gave the most pleasure in the opinion of the adjudicators went to the group from Ysgol Tref y Clawdd primary school at Knighton.
