Hot water bottles on menu at cafe

Spring may be on the way but it’s still a little chilly – especially when you sit outdoors with a hot drink.

Dog-walkers and folk who just love the fresh air down by the riverside are being well catered for at the hugely-successful Green Cafe at the Millennium Green in Ludlow.

So well looked after in fact that they can actually request a hot water bottle from the cafe proprietor Clive Davis or his assistant, Becky Finden.

“People do like to sit outside on the terrace and look at the river,” said Clive, “but because of the cold weather we thought it would be nice to give them hot water bottles.

“People like to have a sit and keep their dogs company while they have a hot drink.”

The bottles come in two sizes and have proper covers and these are made by Kirstie Barton and Bridget Allen who sell their wares under the ‘Material Things’ label from ‘Zani Lady’ in Ludlow’s Corve Street.

Kirstie said the covers were hand-knitted and washable and Clive had stumbled across them by sheer chance and asked for more.
