Presteigne Ladies Hockey Club held their annual dinner at the Radnorshire Arms with the evening one of celebration after the successful season.
Thanks were firstly extended to the club’s main sponsors, Frame Wise Ltd of Presteigne, for their continued support.
Presteigne Badgers youth team won their league for the second year in a row without losing a game.
Presteigne Ladies’ season started well, taking the Mid Wales Challenge Cup by beating Llanfair Caereinon in a well fought final 3-2. This was followed by winning both league titles, the KBS League and the Shropshire League, without losing a game in either.
For the first time Presteigne entered a full team for the Welsh veterans’ tournament in Wrexham in May with a good time had by all.
At the dinner the annual awards were presented by guest speaker Antony Napolitano.
Players’ player of the year was won by Donna Jones, team member of the year went to Tina Sparey, veteran player of the season was scooped by Rita Tomkins.
The most improved player of the season went to Kate Price, the Joan Davies Cup was also won by Donna Jones.
The junior awards saw Sioned Price named as player of the year while most improved junior player of the season went to Jade Durban.
Presents and thanks also went to Geraint Whiffin and Sue Lewis for umpiring and dedication.
The club thanked the Middleton in Llandrindod for the lovely food at their home games as well as Ade and Sally at the Royal Oak in Presteigne for their continued support and welcome.
Thanks were also extended to Tom and Jeannie Owen, Estyn Bufton and Gerry Street for home game sponsorship.
