Members of the Irfon Judo Club shone at the Welsh National Judo Championships, sponsored by Panasonic, which were held in Cardiff last month.
In the under-12 years of age category Wyn Williams, who fought in the -38kg weight category, achieved a silver medal; Rhiannon Ward, -28 kg, gold medal; Emily Pugh, -40kg, gold medal; Sally Price, -44kg, gold medal, and Menna Williams, - 44kg, bronze medal.
In the under-16 years age category Alistair Gardner-Smith, -38kg, got a silver medal and Rachel Poirot, who fought in the women’s -63kg category, also achieved a gold medal and a trophy for the best performance on the day by a senior lady.
Gary Cole fought in the seniors category men’s -60kg at the Welsh National Judo Championship in Cardiff and scooped the gold medal. The Irfon Judo Club member also received a trophy for the best performance on the day by a senior man.
This competion is one of the most prestigious in the Welsh calendar and all the members put in exceptional and outstanding performances on the day.
Senior club coach Richard Jones was absolutely delighted with the results achieved with every member who participated receiving a medal.
