Knighton-based footballer Will Richards is on the verge of signing for ambitious Conference North club AFC Telford United.
Richards, a stylish midfielder with an eye for goal, was surprisingly released by League Two Shrewsbury Town at the end of last season at the end of a two-year apprenticeship.
He had been a reserve team regular for Shrewsbury and also appeared once for the first team, in a cup match at Accrington Stanley, while making the bench as an unused sub several times.
He linked up with Telford on trial earlier this pre-season and, having impressed new manager Andy Sinton, the former England international winger, Richards has now agreed terms to put pen to paper at the Bucks Head.
