Samuel’s Builth are handed tough start

Jason Samuel is expecting one of Builth Wells’ toughest games of the season when the Spar Mid Wales League first division kicks off on August 14.

The newcomers have been handed a difficult away trip to Berriew on the opening day. The Rhiwsiders were relegated from the Cymru Alliance at the end of last season.

Newbridge also face a testing opener as they host Carno who finished third last season.

Both Builth and Newbridge are in action again the following Wednesday night.

Builth will play their first home match against Presteigne while Newbridge welcome Llanidloes Town to Penbont.

Newbridge and Builth Wells clash in a local derby on Bank Holiday Sunday and with the ground hoppers in Mid Wales, can expect a bumper crowd for that one.

The early season league fixtures for our local Spar first division trio are: Builth Wells: Aug 14- Berriew (A), Aug 18-Presteigne (H), Aug 21-Dolgellau (A), Aug 29-Newbridge (A), Aug 18-Waterloo Rovers (H), Aug 25-Bow Street (A).

Newbridge: Aug 14-Carno (H), Aug 18-Llanidloes Town (H), Aug 29-Builth Wells (H), Sep 1-Presteigne (A), Sep 4-Berriew (A), Sep 25-Waterloo Rovers (H).
