Rider Kath competes at top level

LOCAL rider Kath Miller is savouring her big day out with the country’s elite after winning the North West regional dressage championships at elementary restricted level at Somerford Park in Cheshire.

Kath, and her horse Alexander II (a 10-year-old Belgian gelding), have now earned their passage to the big national dressage championships in Stoneleigh Park for the second year in a row.

And the Wentnor-based equestrian is relishing the chance to build on her success last weekend when she came through the regional qualifier with flying colours.

“It was the perfect day and we’re now looking forward to going to Stoneleigh for the second year running,” said Kath.

“It’s a completely different atmosphere as it’s such a big venue and we’ll be out there with the country’s best, including Olympic riders, so I’ll have to polish my boots!”

The national dressage event at the Warwickshire venue runs from 9-12 September.
