The Watson Associates Mid Wales League (South) will run with 15 teams for the 2010-2011 campaign following the late withdrawal of Penybont United.
The Racecourse side advised league officials only last Friday that they would not be fielding a team.
United were rocked by the recent resignation of manager Emrys Goodwin and have seen several players depart.
Talented youngsters Shane Pritchard and Daryl Nicholls have joined Spar League sides Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells respectively.
Goalkeeper Barry Evans has been snapped up by Rhayader Town while Martin Rowan and Jimmy Price have also switched to Llandrindod Wells. And with several players carrying long term injuries, Penybont will now field just the one team, Penybont Athletic, who will drop the Athletic tag.
Chairman Stephen Pugh said “It is a sad day but hopefully we can regroup over the season and be in a position to field two teams this time next year.”
