NEW-LOOK Ludlow Town start life in the County League premier division tomorrow with boss Mike Seaborne looking to make an early impression.
The SBS Stadium men welcome Telford side Dawley Wanderers, and will be keen to get points on the board early on.
The pre-season preparations have gone well for a Ludlow side who, having pulled out of the West Midlands League, will have a more local feel to their side this term. And Seaborne is relishing the challenges that lie ahead.
“With the players we’ve got, we’re going to score plenty of goals and as long as we can keep it tight at the end, we should have a good season,” he said. “The friendlies have been a decent exercise, we’re now looking forward to the real thing.”
But Ludlow have their selection concerns for the opener with skipper Jamie Marsh unavailable due to a wedding.
Ludlow maintained their pre-season success with a 5-2 win over Kington, despite turning in what Seaborne felt was their worst showing in the first half before improving after the break as they overturned a one-goal deficit
Andy Walker led the way with a hat-trick, while brothers Nathan and Aaron Hodge also found the net.
And a few days later they defeated Orleton 4-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Ludlow Hospital Cup, Nathan Hodge netting a brace along with Aaron Hodge and Danny Gower.
Seaborne’s former club, Leintwardine Colts, have folded after there was not enough interest from local players in keeping the club going.
However, the committee have remained and have not ruled out the club one day returning to action.
