Craven Arms residents are being asked to give their views on curbing alcohol-related misbehaviour in the town.
The town council has been approached by the local police to consider putting in place an Alcohol Enforcement Order restricting drinking in public places. This follows a series of complaints about drink related/anti-social issues in the town.
Clive Leworthy, town council chairman said: “I have spoken with the police on a number of occasions over the past month and we have invited them to attend our next meeting at the Community Centre to discuss their proposals for an Alcohol Enforcement Order in the town.”
“I know the police feel strongly that this would assist them in dealing with alcohol related incidents on the streets so we will debate the matter fully at this meeting.
“I hope people will take this opportunity to come along and have their say. It’s important that we all work together to try to improve the current situation.”
Police are also seeking support in the town via a petition and Councillor Leworthy is asking people to also submit their views to the council via the clerk – email clerkcravenarmstown council@hotmail.co.uk
Residents are invited to the meeting at the Community Centre next Tuesday, August 31, at 7.30pm, and can put their views in the public session and listen to the debate.
