The record Welsh groundhop attendance was broken at Newbridge on Sunday when 322 spectators witnessed their 4-2 local derby success against local rivals Builth Wells in the Spar Mid Wales League.
But the record lasted just three hours as a staggering 374 fans watched Llandrindod Wells draw 1-1 with Bont on The Broadway.
The groundhoppers admitted to have been extremely well looked after in Mid Wales and are hoping to repeat their visit next August Bank Holiday to take in more of our Spar grounds.
Spar Mid Wales League secretary Phil Woosnam thanked the local clubs Rhosgoch, Newbridge and Llandrindod Wells who hosted the games on Sunday for their excellent hospitality on what was a very good day for the sport locally.
The attendances for the groundhop games were: Friday – Abermule v Llanfair United (261); Saturday – Llanfyllin Town v Kerry (211), Four Crosses v Meifod (203 ), Llanidloes Town v Llansantffraid (302); Sunday – Rhosgoch v Talgarth Town (229), Newbridge v Builth Wells (322), Llandrindod Wells v Bont (374); Monday – Carno v Llanidloes Town (311 ), Montgomery Town v Llanfyllin Town (272 ), Kerry v Meifod (215 ).
