THE League of Friends is continuing to raise funds for Ludlow Hospital and is staying upbeat despite the economic climate.
Chairman Peter Corfield said: “Over the past three years we have purchased over £100,000 of equipment for the hospital in Ludlow, ranging from new electronic beds, airflow mattresses, ophthalmic instruments, bedside furniture and much much more.
“We hope to hear shortly that kidney dialysis will be provided locally and have pledged £60,000 for the dialysis equipment. Our small events team work very hard to ensure that we maintain an income as it is becoming increasingly obvious that the NHS will find it more difficult to provide some of these essential and desirable items.
“Whilst we await the final decision and approvals for a new hospital in Ludlow it is essential that we invest in patient care and comfort in a way that can be transferred to new premises once they are constructed.
“We are also anxious to improve the range and scope of outpatient clinics locally to avoid patients, particularly the elderly, having to travel to Shrewsbury, Telford or Hereford.”
The Royal British Legion, Mill Street Ludlow hosts a bingo night next Wednesday in aid of the league. The event starts at 7.30pm and will include a raffle.
