What a difference a year makes… last year persistent rain drenched competitors and spectators at the Elan Valley Show, this year they could not have had a better day.
The 19th Elan Valley Show was held on the Noyadd fields on Bank Holiday Monday, courtesy of Mr and Mrs John Morgan. The sun shone from a cloudless sky throughout the day, attracting a very good crowd and above average entries in almost every class.
With sheep, pony and dog classes on the field and cookery, crafts, fruit, flower and vegetable sections in the marquee, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Other attractions included a display by Rhayader Vintage Club, football, children’s classes and a quadbike competition as well as a bouncy castle for the children to enjoy, coconut shy, stalls, raffles and an excellent barbecue provided by the Elan Valley Social Club.
Show secretary Christine Davies said: “The show went very well because the sun shone. We could not have had a better day.
“The quadbike competition went well, particularly for children, and the sheep shearing competition was brilliant. We have got a local commentator and he is absolutely superb; he was really entertaining whether you are into sheep shearing or not.”
The show committee wish to express their gratitude to Mr and Mrs John Morgan and family for the use of their fields, and the judges, stewards, cup donors, exhibitors and all those who contributed to a very successful show.
