The South Shropshire Journal is a truly local newspaper. Both reporters live and work within the circulation area.
The editorial and advertising departments are both based at The Angel, Broad Street, Ludlow SY8 1NG and can be reached by a local phone call – 01584 876311. Jean Kingdon
• The Journal’s chief reporter is Jean Kingdon. A graduate in political studies, with a post- graduate diploma in journalism, Jean has lived in south Shropshire for 12 years.
Jean and her husband spent four happy years in Ludlow, before moving to a rural retreat near Craven Arms. Jean has worked in Wrexham, Mold, Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Lampeter and spent three years lecturing in journalism in Lusaka, Zambia. Email jkingdon@shropshirestar.co.uk
Liz Tinsley
• Reporter Liz Tinsley is a south Shropshire local through and through.
Born in Shrewsbury, she has lived in the Church Stretton area with her family all her life.
Liz started her school career at Church Stretton’s St Lawrence’s Primary School. She gained a sociology degree from Manchester University and later completed the Midland News Association’s journalism course. Liz has been a reporter on the Journal for the past 14 years, with special responsibility for the Strettons area. Now living at Marshbrook, both Liz’s children are educated locally. Liz is now a governor at Wistanstow CE Primary School and she is also on the PTA committee.

• Stuart Allen is the Journals’ and Shropshire Star point of contact for display advertising in the Shropshire Newspapers Group. He is part of the team in the Ludlow office ready to help with all your advertising needs. Stuart joined Shropshire Newspapers in the mid 1970s and then spent several years at the Wolverhampton Express and Star before returning to Ludlow.
Born in Ditton Priors and a former pupil of Bridgnorth Grammar School, Stuart lives near Cleobury Mortimer and is married with two grown-up children. He is also a proud granddad. He has Ludlow connections – the Rix family, his grandfather’s family had grocery shops in south Shropshire and mid-Wales.
